Just finished eating dinner at JB Ah Meng Cze Char at Geylang Lorong 23.
Fried fish skin with green papaya salad.
I like the crisp fish skin which wasn't greasy at all. However would have preferred julienned green papaya instead of slices ala Thai green papaya salad.
San Lou mifen (3 storey bee hoon)
This comes in a flat pancake of wok hei goodness. LM commented it tastes like char kway teow. I think they use a bit of sweet sauce. There is a bed of Chye sim underneath the bee hoon so it's quite healthy.
White pepper crabs
While meaty and fresh, somehow it's not as fragrant as it's black pepper counterpart. I feel the sweet flavour of the crab is somewhat missing. I didn't like the random sprigs of local celery which didn't help to do anything for the taste and proved to be an annoying distraction.
地三鲜 Trio of aubergine, potato and green bell pepper
The aubergine was nicely deep fried with a crisp exterior and soft succulent interior that wasn't too greasy. The potato pieces were meltingly soft and the bell peppers crisp.
